Google Play editions of the Galaxy S4 and HTC One come with some improvements over stock Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and one of the best ones is the camera app, which also features Photosphere. Thanks to XDA-Developers, we are now able to install the stock Android camera APK on any Android device and enjoy the Photosphere.
The new
camera is pretty similar to the one on Nexus devices, though it comes with a few minor improvements. The Settings menu now features more options and is much easier to use, while you can take photos by pressing the volume buttons.
The stock camera APK can be easily installed and it doesn’t require root permissions, which is really nice. You just have to download it and install it like any other app in order to enjoy Photosphere and HDR on any Android device. Though please note that HDR doesn’t work on any device because it does have some hardware requirements.
After installing the APK you will have new camera and gallery apps and if you want to make them the defaults, you have to rename or delete the old ones. It mostly depends on the smartphone, because everyone can behave differently.
In order to get the new camera app, go ahead and use the following direct download links to get the APK: Link 1, Link 2.
Then make sure that you allow apps to be installed from unknown sources. To do this, head over to Settings > Security and check “Unknown sources.” If you downloaded the app directly on your device, you will find it in the app called “Downloads.” For your security we recommend you to go and disable “Unknown sources” after you install the app. This makes sure that no app is installed from outside the Play Store.
